Board of Trustees Meeting
July 25, 2020
I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Association President. (Glady)
II. Trustees Present
(All Present) Renee Jobbitt, Diana Larsson, Liz Alimpich, Mike Lackomar, Steve Minnick,
Lynn Secord, Glady Stablein, Mary Wade, Gery Victor.
III. Reading/Approval of June 13, 2020 Minutes – The Board members read the minutes.
Diana moved to approve the minutes - Gery seconded, all approved - motion carried (202020).
IV. Member Topics – No members available to present.
V. Reading of Treasurer's Report/Financials
Treasurer, Mary Wade, gave an oral and written report of recent expenditures and our financial status.
Mary reported Total Assets of $90,567.62
Accounts receivable $19,819.72
Mary agreed to identify/clarify Eastern Michigan Bank “other” account.
Most members have already paid their 2020 dues.
All agreed that extra funds from the dues will be used for beach clean-up & bluff repairs.
Report accepted as presented with EMB clarification and Bluff Fund distribution, as agreed above.
VI. Clubhouse Report
Glady provided the update.
We have purchased a new copier/scanner.
The hedges and trees surrounding the clubhouse were trimmed.
Gery replaced the missing drain cover on the clubhouse grounds.
Glady & Diana have been cleaning out the office area and sorting/organizing old board records, for storage in the garage shelving.
VII. Bluff/Parkway Maintenance
Committee Report – Debby Bonneau not present - No committee report at this time.
Beach Clean-up - Lynn reported.
Some Street Captains have already organized clean-up efforts for the beaches.
We need some organized action on Satinwood and a few other beaches.
Complaint about fire pit between Tulip and Walbridge - no action required at this time.
Boat Ramp Keys –
Two more sold – six remaining.
Oak Ramp – Need solution to the potentially dangerous drop-off at the bottom of the ramp.
Lynn will look into sandbags as a possible solution.
Parking Issues - At No Parking areas and too close to the bluff edge.
Many from other communities are coming here to use our beach areas.
We may be able to use Gary’s towing to remove them.
VII. Bluff/Parkway Maintenance (continued)
Post installment along Lakeview – Missing and additional posts.
Installation will be completed soon.
Bluff Trimming – Billy’s Tree Service.
Will begin sumac & brush trimming 1st week in August.
Planned Phase 3 & 4 tree trimming will begin in late Fall.
VIII. Unfinished Business –
Clubhouse Sewer Hook-up – Alex Weiss
Glady reminded Alex Weiss that we need to get it done.
IX. New Business –
Trustee Election -
The election will proceed today, 7/25, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM – Official results will be confirmed at the next Board meeting.
Parking permit stickers for golf carts – To identify Lex-Hi resident carts.
Glady ordered the stickers.
We have to work out the best way to distribute them to members.
Street captains may be able to distribute them to their neighborhood.
We will need to purchase and install signs indicating “Parking by Permit Only”.
X. President’s Comments/Concerns
Other communities flocking to our neighborhood.
Glady noted that a Great Lake Shores resident bas being belligerent about her right to use our parkway and beaches.
This happens al too often.
XI. Trustee Comments/Concerns
New Signage – Need more visible display of our Beach & Parkway rules.
Suggestions for lower signs with larger letters – maybe on staircases.
Re: Dogs, glass bottles, Parking rules.
Concern that some people will object to more signs.
Lexington Heights By-laws – Some people are not aware that they exist.
Mike will post directions to get to the By-Laws which displayed on the website.
Gery motioned to adjourn the meeting – seconded by Mike – Motion passed (202021).
XII. Community Events for 2020:
All summer season events at the clubhouse, including clubhouse rentals have been cancelled by Board consensus (due to Covid 19 safety concerns).
